US Cellular Introduces Samsung Mesmerize
The immensely popular Samsung Galaxy S, one of the best Android based smartphones created by Samsung, has arrived in US Cellular’s domain as Samsung Mesmerize.
Earlier, the major US carriers had launched different versions of Galaxy S that slightly differed from each other. Now it is US Cellular’s turn to boast a new version of the popular high-end Samsung device. Mesmerize is the third smartphone launched by US Cellular this year that runs on the Android operating system.
Samsung Mesmerize models that are currently available in the US Cellular stores will run on the Android 2.1 operating system. However, later this year, US Cellular customers could run their Mesmerize handsets on the Android 2.2 or the Froyo platform. Moreover, the Media Hub of Samsung could be accessed with the Samsung Android smartphone within a few months.
The 4-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touch sensitive screen of the phone displays crisp high-resolution (480 x 800 pixels) images in their true colors. The display of the Android device is equipped with accelerometer for automatically rotating the images, proximity sensor and TouchWiz 3.0 User Interface.
The Mesmerize handset features a virtual QWERTY keyboard. The Swype technology integrated in the smartphone eases the typing task. A 5-megapixel camera is located on the rear side of the Mesmerize handset.
Along with autofocus, zoom, flash and HD video recorder, the primary camera of the phone supports touch focus, geo tagging and smile detection. A secondary VGA camera is present on the front of the smartphone to facilitate video conferencing.
The 1 GHZ Hummingbird Application processor packed in the Samsung device will support the robust functionalities. Moreover, the advanced processor supports 3D graphics. Mesmerize features MP3 player, FM radio, GPS with A-GPS support and HTML browser. It supports Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi with DLNA support, 3G, 3.5mm headset jack and microSD memory card slot for memory expansion up to 32 GB.
Google Mobile services such as Google Search, Google Talk, GMail, Google Maps and YouTube and US Cellular applications including Tone Room Deluxe, Your Navigator Deluxe, City ID and My Contacts Backup are preloaded in the handset. Through the All Share application, preloaded in the Samsung smartphone, pictures, videos and audios stored in Mesmerize could be transferred to DLNA compatible devices.
Mesmerize will be available in US Cellular stores for $199 after an $80 mail-in rebate.
