The N61Jv notebook comes to UK with Nvidia Optimus Technology
Asus’s N61Jv mu
ltimedia notebook is now all set to thwack the selves in the UK. Touted to be ‘world’s first notebook alongside Nvidia Optimus Technology’, the new N61Jv had already made its availability for the US customers for a short time, where it was priced up to $899.99 at Amazon.com. Optimus was witnessed in the netbooks when Acer had come up with its pioneer Aspire One 532G HD netbook.
The integration of Optimus to the system means that when a user opens a graphically-rich app, Optimus automatically activates the power-hungry GeForce GT325M; it after that switches off the GPU when that application is no longer needed, and thus, save battery power.
Though for the US consumers, this N61Jv has been old, in the UK, it is the first notebook that will sport Optimus Technology. The dynamic graphics switching technology has the ability to be used in netbooks and notebooks, which are in-built with both a discrete GPU and built-in GPU.
The N61Jv is integrated with Intel’s robust Core i5-430M CPU, encompassing the Intel GMA HD GPU; these components are packed into a single package that helps lower the needs of laptop’s power. Asus, to compensate for the deficiencies of GMA HD, has built-in the N61Jv with a dedicated Nvidia GeForce GT325M GPU. That’s why; the N61Jv is expected to last a relatively long time on its 6-cell battery.
The N61Jv’s robust core components are best-complemented by the remaining specs of the system. Such as; it has DDR3 RAM of 4GB; a hard drive of 500GB; a USB 3.0 port; Altec Lansing co-brand speakers; a Bluetooth adapter; an 802.11 b/g/n WLAN adapter; a 2-year limited, global warranty; and a Blu-ray drive.
Similar to a number of Asus systems, the N61Jv is also featured with Asus’ Express Gate for fast booting, and is pre-loaded with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. Also the built-in Asus Video Magic Technology tout to up-scale ‘DVDs to full 1080p without slowing down; this proves to be of high use when the N61Jv is plugged into an external display through the system’s HDMI port.
Usually, computers like the N61Jv are heftily priced in the UK as compared to the US: at Amazon.co.uk, it is now available for grabs at £949 (~$1459).
