Sony’s New e-Readers
Sony, renown for its innovative designs and technological breakthroughs, has moved a step further in enhancing digital reading experience for book lovers. Sony has promised that e-reading will become a whole new experience with its new introductions. The company has just launched its Reader Pocket Edition, Reader Touch Edition and the wireless Reader Daily Edition.
The new readers are designed on the lines of the previous readers, but have been enhanced with more functional and popular features. One of the popular favorites among e book readers has been touch screen technology and the company has kept that in mind while launching their new counterparts.
Full touch screen has been upgraded and incorporated across the new line of readers. They are now improved optical touch screens that are very responsive. The readers can operate these devices with the lightest swipe of the finger or stylus.
In addition, the new avatars have been reduced in size as well as weight. The much touted designs are available in attractive colors; like silver, black, red and pink. They have an elegant aluminum finish. They offer much better clarity while reading. Also, it is a lot easier to use them now. Hence, the new design features have enhanced the overall reading experience. The price range for these stylish devices is quite wide.
All the three new lines use the new and improvised e ink display. It is better known as the E Ink Pearl electronic paper display. The advantage of this technology is that it has a display similar to paper.
It is visible even in direct sunlight. All the text and images on the screen are very clearly visible. This can be attributed to the screen’s high contrast ration. It even exhibits 16 levels of grayscale. All this only augments the reading experience.
The new Reader Pocket Edition has a five-inch full touch screen and is portable. The 2 GB onboard memory allows one to carry around 1,200 books. The new Reader Touch Edition boasts of a six-inch full touch screen. It has an onboard memory of 2 GB, and also offers dual expansion slots for up to 32GB of additional memory.
You can also play MP3 and AAC audio files on it. The Reader Daily Edition features a wireless connection to Sony’s Reader Store through AT&T’s 3G network. Furthermore, it also has Wi-Fi and basic web browsing technology. It features a seven-inch full touch screen.
