Sony Ericsson has added two new generation smartphones to its popular Xperia series. The new smartphones, dubbed Xperia Neo and Xperia Pro, will run on the advanced Android Gingerbread platform.

In a press release, Steve Walker, Head of Marketing of Sony Ericsson said, “We want to be a leader in Android and with Xperia neo and Xperia pro, we are now offering excellent, innovative Android choices for consumers.”

Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro features

Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro is a high-end business phone. Packed with a 3.7-inch high-resolution multi touch display and a slide out QWERTY keyboard optimized for fast messaging, Xperia Pro is expected to become one of the best selling products of Sony Ericsson.

The smart functions that facilitate speedy messaging include the ‘Type & Send’ feature that eliminates the need of dedicated apps for each message category. Sony Ericsson has incorporated a wide array of professional features in the smartphone with which users could synchronize calendar, contacts and emails. The Office Suite Pro, preinstalled in the smartphone, would allow users to view and edit their Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents directly from the mobile phone.

The Mobile Bravia Engine, embedded in the display of Xperia Pro, exhibits high-quality images with better color, sharpness and contrast. The Exmor R sensor, present in the 8.1-megapixel high-end camera of Xperia Pro, captures fifty percent more light than the standard sensors of smartphone cameras. In addition, it produces minimal noise interference, producing brighter and clearer photos and videos. Xperia Pro users could shoot 720p HD videos and stream the high-definition videos to larger HD monitors through the built-in HDMI port.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro will be shipped worldwide in red, black and silver colors in the second quarter of this year.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo features

Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo is a full touchscreen smartphone running on the Android Gingerbread platform. It shares most of its features with Xperia Pro. It is slimmer and shorter than Xperia Pro. The smartphone could easily fit into your grasp.

The scratch resistant 3.7-inch capacitive touchscreen display is equipped with Mobile Bravia Engine. The integrated web browser supports Adobe Flash Player.

Xperia Neo features a 8.1 megapixel camera with Exmor R CMOS sensor, media player, FM radio with RDS, A-GPS, HDMI connector and microSD card slot. It will be available in red, blue and silver colors.

Xperia Neo will arrive in the retail stores in the end of Q1.
