Samsung Galaxy Tab 750 Review
When it comes to talking about the tablet market, only one name reigns supreme and that is Apple’s Ipad. Even with the sudden rise in tablets from different manufacturers including Acer, Motorolla and Blackberry none has even come close to the sales of the apple Ipad. However, if there is one company who has managed to create a buzz in the tablet market other than apple it has to be Samsung.
The Samsung galaxy tab has been a popular alternative to the Ipad. However, the original Samsung galaxy tab which had a 7 inch display and ran on android frayo eventually fell short of the apple Ipad with iOS, a software far superior to the android. With Apple introducing the ipad2, Samsung has not lagged behind and has introduced the new range of Samsung galaxy tab which are sized at 10.1 (750) inch and 8.9inch (730). This new tab by Samsung comes in extremely protective packaging which look like a huge cube shaped box. The packaging is similar to that of the Galaxy S II,but larger.
What’s Different?
The new galaxy tab 750 and 730 are not only bigger in screen size as compared to the previous tab of the series but are also much lighter. In fact, the Samsung galaxy 750 is also thinner than the ipad2 even though the difference is marginal.
Other than being thinner, weighing at a mere 565 gms it also lighter than the ipad2 by approximately 40 gms, thus making it viable for long period of use.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 750 Specifications / Hardware
Just like the galaxy smartphones such as the Galaxy S II ,Samsung has used lightweight plastic rather than using metal which takes prominence in all the Apple products including the ipad.Even though Samsung insists that aluminum has been used which narrows down the side of the device critics argue that it does not feel like aluminum. This will remain one area where the apple products will have the upper hand.
The 10.1 inch touchscreen has a resolution of 1200 x 800 which has now become the standard for the majority of the tablets being released. There are two cameras on the device, the front camera is 2MP where as the camera in the rear is 3.2 MP.
This device has a 16gb memory which could be extended upto 32gb In the memory card slot. On the bottom side of this device is a proprietary connector for USB and HDMI. Something that the ipad lacks. The HDMI adapter, however, will be sold separately.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 750 User Interface/ Software
The Samsung galaxy tab 750 runs on Google’s android 3.1 Version which is referred to as “Honeycomb”. The user interface more or less is similar to the previous products. However, Samsung has come out with the new TouchWiz UX which among other things will add live panels to the Honeycomb homescreen, which includes Samsung widgets such as Samsung Mail ,accuweather and Calendar. It will also provide an additional dock like bar which will allow access to the most commonly used apps.
There will also be features similar to the itunes i.e video and music on demand services. The video on demand service will be limited to the US only. There will also be a reader’s hub providing access to books and newspapers.Ipad in the tablet market right now. Overall, it is an impressive device and the toughest competeion for Apple’s ipad in the market right now.
