Samsung and Seagate To Work Together on Enterprise SSDs
Arena of storage solutions will soon see a major transition in the days to come. The two leaders in the market for storage solutions – Seagate and Samsung – have entered into an agreement for development and licensing.
This mutual agreement of the two giants will benefit the consumers besides drawing lucrative profits for themselves. Also, the contract will bear the testimony to the combined power of both the companies’ experience as well as expertise. So, we can look forward to faster and high-ends SSDs out of this duo.
Seagate and Samsung have come to mutual terms so that they can together develop SSDs by using the technologies, which were proprietary to each of them. That means Samsung can now access the technology secrets of Seagate (technology of enterprise storage, to be more precise) and vice versa.
This will result in nothing else than performance driven, more reliable and more enduring storage devices that are a necessity at the enterprise level.
The combination of the proprietary enterprise storage of Seagate & flash memory (30nm-standard MLC NAND) of Samsung will definitely bring about a revolution to the world of storage solutions by enhancing the SSD capabilities of the present time.
The deal casts light on the perception of Seagate that more comprehensive solutions need to be harnessed out of Solid State technology to make the storage devices future-proof.
In addition, Seagate is assured of the fact that the alliance with Samsung will result in more innovative and compelling SSDs especially for enterprise market. Besides, the new SSDs will be backed up by lower cost and more capacity other than the enhancements on the reliability front. This way, Seagate will be able to meet the ever-growing global demand of storage solutions.
On the other hand, Samsung celebrates this moment with the same fervor. Samsung’s Green Memory solution will deliver server applications that consume less energy. The energy efficiency will account for growing demand for SSDs based on NAND memory in the market.
However, no details about the availability of the enterprise-class SSDs by Seagate have been out till now. Also, the price details have also been kept behind the veil.
