Finally the Ontario-based creator of BlackBerry phones has announced the features of its upgraded BlackBerry operating system.

The version 6.0 of the BlackBerry operating system will provide enhanced communication and browsing features to the upcoming BlackBerry smartphones.

BlackBerry OS 6.0 features
Despite several upgrades, the current BlackBerry phones had few lacunae that are eroding the revenue of RIM. Three common complains against BlackBerry smartphones are slow browsing, poor touchscreen functionality and insufficient availability of third party apps. RIM has tried to address these problems by launching the new BlackBerry operating system.

RIM has incorporated a new browser in BlackBerry OS 6.0. The new Webkit based BlackBerry browser will provide enhanced view of web pages. The web pages will now load at a faster speed. The multi tab feature will allow users of BlackBerry smartphones equipped with the new operating system to access multiple web pages simultaneously. Pan and zoom features have been included in the browser of BlackBerry OS 6.0.

RIM has refurbished the user interface of BlackBerry phones. The multi touch feature will create a new user experience that is missing in the predecessors of BlackBerry OS 6. You can expect to enjoy easier navigation and scrolling features in the new BlackBerry platform. Home screens could be customized easily. Moreover, it will be easier to access apps with handsets running on the new operating system.

The new BlackBerry platform will even facilitate pop-up menus, universal search and a revamped media player. RIM has launched a new app, dubbed BlackBerry Concierge, which could keep you updated about weather conditions and other customized location based services. To expand the use of BlackBerry phones among the social networking crazy generation, a new app capable of collecting RSS feeds and information from your favorite social networking sites will be loaded in the Blackberry smartphones. Facebook and Twitter apps will be installed in the new smartphones running on the revamped operating system.

The new BlackBerry software will be available from the next quarter.
