Panasonic intros New Professional Blu-Ray Discs
Panasonic has decided to introduce its all new series of professional Blu-ray Disc media. The disc, which will be offered in two grades-Archival Grade & Century Archival Grade, is claimed to provide a greater degree of security to digital data recording in professional apps. Both the Archival Grade and Century Archival Grade discs will be made available in the markets in Q1 and Q2 of 2010, respectively.
The Archival Grade would have a projected lifespan of 50 years if it is provided with a room temperature of 25 degrees Celsius and humidity of around 80%. And all the credit for such sort of longevity goes to the use of advanced phase change recording technology by Panasonic.
The company is putting in a lot of emphasis on the issues about quality and safety. And it’s evident from the fact that world’s famous institution TUV Rheinland that issues certificates of quality and safety has tested the discs.
Every single disc undergoes some strict inspection before being certified. This shows the length company is willing to travel to maintain the professional-grade quality and making the discs more durable.
The Archival grade is already superb in terms of durability, but Century Archival Grade takes it a notch higher. If one wishes to save data for a few generations down the line, the aptly-named Century archival Grade disc is the thing to look out for since it’s going to be intact for the next 100 years.
And this amazing durability comes out of a novel recording layer structure that brings longevity of shelf life. The structure is so built that it keeps out the external harmful materials such as; dust, water and many more things that may reduce its life otherwise.
Both the Archival Grade and the Century Archival Grade has significant durability and pliability that come out of the Tough Coating body structure. There is a double protective layer with hard coat that is built of a tough material, which shields the disc from scratches and fingerprints.
As of now, company has not divulged any detail about the pricing of Blu-Ray Discs, but as soon as it comes we will let you know.
