Nokia Introduces Cheap 3G Feature Phone C2-01
Nokia has officially unveiled its cheapest 3G-enabled phone, christened Nokia C2-01. This new member of Nokia’s C2 family will offer several high-end functions at a low price.
The Finnish cell phone manufacturer will sell this new Nokia device for 70 euros or $96. However, the price excludes taxes and subsidies.
Nokia C2-01 is a classic Nokia feature phone. It sports a two-inch display with a traditional numeric keypad. This pretty Nokia handset will run on Series 40 operating system. Users can customize the home screen of the device with widgets, shortcuts, themes and icons.
The feature phone will be available in white, black and gray colors. It will work on GSM and UMTS networks. Nokia C2-01 could be used for global roaming. However, unlike its predecessor, Nokia C2, Nokia C2-01 does not support dual SIM.
The single SIM cell phone supports MP3 music player, FM Radio with RDS, stereo Bluetooth and 3.5mm headset jack. Users can browse the internet with the help of the Nokia C2-01 handset. For social networking enthusiasts, Nokia has preloaded Facebook and Flickr applications in the feature phone.
Nokia Messaging service for emailing and instant messaging has been included in the upcoming Nokia device. This new Nokia phone supports threaded view of chat messages and SMS conversations. In selected markets, Nokia C2-01 users could access Nokia Life Tools service. Songs and music tracks could be downloaded from Ovi Music. Users can access the Ovi Store, the online app store of Nokia.
The 46MB on board storage space might not be enough for cell phone users who love stashing their phones with files and documents. Fortunately, Nokia C2-01 supports external memory expansion, up to 16GB with the help of microSD memory card.
Users can snap photos with the 3.2-megapixel camera of Nokia C2-01. The phone’s camera supports digital zoom and video recording.
On 2G networks, the battery of the new Nokia device will support up to 8.75 hours of talk time and up to 430 hours of standby time. However, the talk time will be halved while using the phone on 3G network. On the 3G network, Nokia C2-01’s battery supports up to 4.50 hours of talk time.
Nokia C2-01 will be shipped from the first quarter of 2011.
