Nokia 700 (Zeta), Symbian Based Budget Smartphone

Submitted on July 12, 2011 by 23 views

Nokia is preparing the slimmest Symbian powered device, dubbed Nokia 700 Zeta. It is a low-budget smartphone, which will run on the revamped Symbian platform. From leaked images, it is clear that the Finnish cell phone maker has given Nokia Zeta a white colored candy bar body. It might come in four or more color variants.

Nokia Zeta will run on the Symbian Belle operating system. The refurbished operating system seems to have borrowed several features from the MeeGo operating system. It features pull down status bar. It will also come with a bottom bar. Quick switches are present on the top of the touchscreen for rapidly activating or switching off Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and data. Missed calls and messages will be neatly arranged on the home screen, a feature that you would find on Nokia N9 and N950 smartphones.

The current ongoing activities would be displayed on the home screen. To ensure the safety of the contents stored in the smartphone, the upgraded operating system will flaunt a log in screen. Interactive scrollbar, multiple checklists and a magnifier are other key features of the upgraded Symbian operating system. The touchscreen interface is expected to offer better haptic feedback. The multi touch interface might support rotation gestures.

The performance of the upcoming Nokia device will be enhanced by a 1GHz CPU. However, it is unclear, whether Nokia is packing a single core or a dual core processor in the phone.

The smartphone would come with the standard features of touchscreen devices. It sports a 3.2-inch AMOLED display. However, the display of the upcoming Nokia device will not support full HD videos. Featuring a resolution of 360×640 pixels resolution, the touchscreen display is suitable for viewing standard definition movies or near-HD videos.

Although touted to be the “thinnest smartphone ever”, Nokia Zeta is expected to measure not more than 10mm thin. Nokia Zeta is 110mm long and 51mm wide. It is a lightweight device, weighing around 80grams.

A 5-megapixel camera is mounted on the rear side of the smartphone. LED flash and auto focus are installed in the camera. It will also have a front-facing VGA camera for enabling video calling.

Wi-Fi is probably absent in the upcoming Nokia smartphone. The smartphone could be connected to Bluetooth accessories.

A high-speed Micro USB 2.0 port is present in the device to enable synchronization of data between the Nokia Zeta handset and your PC. This Nokia smartphone model supports GPRS. To enable fast internet browsing, 3G connectivity is integrated in the device.

Near Field Communication or NFC chip will be integrated in the upcoming Nokia smartphone. The NFC enabled device will support secure transfer of information. Nokia Zeta users could use the smartphone for making mobile payments. NFC tags could function as coupons for products in retail displays.

NFC enabled devices could function as ID cards. Users can even share files, photos, videos, applications and electronic business cards with the aid of the NFC enabled Nokia smartphone.

Nokia Zeta might be officially released in the third quarter of this year with an affordable price tag.
