Nokia has announced a new addition to its X series of mobile phones, tagged the Nokia X5-01. Nokia X5-01 is a slide-out smartphone with full QWERTY keypad and quite an unusual shape.

Nokia X5-01 runs on Symbian S60 operating system (3rd edition) that is; Nokia X5-01 will be supporting many software including freeware available on the web.

The software base for Symbian operating system is very big as compared to other mobile operating systems like Android.

The new Nokia X5-01 sports a 2.3-inch QVGA display, which has plentiful area for web surfing and document viewing. Connectivity is brought by quad-band GSM, HSDPA (tri-band), Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1. One of the main features is worldwide roaming support provided with HSDPA. This phone can be connected to a PC via a microUSB port, which makes it very easy to use as such ports are used by many phone makers such as Motorola and Samsung.

Audio support is provided by excellent quality speakers. Music tracks can be changed by phone gestures such as spinning the phone while the music player is running. Besides the support for 3.5mm audio jack helps the users to connect the headphone of his choice. All these features deliver a unique audio experience to the users.

Nokia X5-01 is also touted to be offered with a music package in some selected markets. Being a smartphone, Nokia X5-01 pays special attention to messaging as well as social networking features as these two activities are in vogue today. Because of this knack for social networking, the device has a number of social networking services like Facebook, Hi5, MySpace, Twitter and more.

Also, popular instant messengers are integrated within Nokia X5-01. It also offers support for multiple email accounts. The same gesture system works with messaging. Just shake your handset and it shows you the unread messages.

The 5-megapixel camera built-in the phone comes with a LED flash. Whether the camera has Auto Focus or not is not yet ascertained. The Nokia X5-01 will come in a number of vibrant colors to suit each personality.

It is expected to hit the Indonesian market by the third quarter this year and will be priced at 165 Euro excluding taxes. However, nothing surely can be said about its availability in other markets round the world.
