MSI unveils Wind U160DX Netbook
MSI with its newest netbook Wind U160DX has promised the market an upgraded MSI Wind U160. Wind 160DX is driven by an Atom N455 processor.
It also supports DDR3 RAM. But the rest of the features remain the same as that of Wind U160.
Besides these two, there are no major differences between the two models. However, it can be taken in to consideration that since DDR3 RAM is more energy-efficient than DDR2, the battery lifetime (up to 15 hours) in Wind 160 DX will increase. Other features such as: the fully functional keyboard, excellent touchpad and extra RAM remain the same as in the Wind U160.
Like its predecessor, Wind 160DX is predicted to be portable, lightweight, support for Windows 7 starter, 10-inch LED display with 1024×600 resolution, 8 ms reaction time, Bluetooth, NM10 Express chipset by Intel, 1.3-mp camera, HD audio, stereo speakers, 802.11 b/g/n capability, etc. It is also said that the five power supply modes that were in U160 i.e. Document, Gaming, Turbo Battery, Presentation and Movie will remain intact here too.
Achieving a 15-hour lifetime for battery is a big deal. Surely, when you run Wi-Fi and put major load on your netbook, achieving the target of 15-hour battery lifetime is just next to impossible. We can guess that MSI’s Eco Engine system of power management will be helpful in keeping the netbook running for long. But I am not sure if it would be able to take up the load of full time net browsing and two-three YouTube video clips.
Wind U160DX, it seems, should support multi-tasking in a much better way than what used to be the case in Wind 160. Also, the DDR2 memory runs at 667MHz in Wind 160 which is almost 1066MHz in the case of Wind U160DX. This feature should also render some smoothness to the function of the netbook.
If we talk about the look and design of MSI Wind U160DX then it should not vary much from the U160 model by MSI. Sleek, stylish and elegant, as it seems to be, MSI Wind U160DX will suit the office premises as well as home ambience.
There is no buzz anywhere about the prices of MSI Wind U160DX.
