Motorola Chindi, Square Android Slider for AT&T
Motorola has always given us the most stylish and innovative handsets with something new in their form factor every time. From candybar to side sliders, from flipping devices to devices of various shapes, Motorola has shown us its various facets of creativity.
The new device to come from under their banner is Chindi, a square-shaped handset based on Android. Chindi will also feature a sliding design.
Although the Chindi resembles the Motorola Flipout to a good extent, we are bound to find differences on close look.
Motorola Flipout and Chindi are coincidentally square-shaped but the latter has a sliding design unlike the Motorola Flipout which has a flipper design.
Rumors have that Motorola Chindi will be launched on the airwaves of carrier AT&T. However, no details regarding the price and availability have been released. Also, at the end of the day, Chindi might turn out to be a mere codename and the actual device might be called something different.
It is expected that the Motorola Chindi will sport a QWERTY keyboard and touchscreen display. The device would run on Android 2.1 operating system. Apart from this, we can expect to see a 3.1MP camera integrated into it.
Motorola Chindi will be powered by Motoblur and as we can also say from the presence of the QWERTY keyboard, the phone is hugely designed for the social networking fans. It will also be really helpful for those, who are addicted to send text messages to friends. The AT&T’s invincible support will allow the users to stay connected to their friends and family wherever they go. In addition, uploading images on your profile in popular social networking sites will be too simple.
As of now, we can only hope that Chindi will make its way to the market. This is because a device of any shape and size is not fit for the Android platform. So, we’ll have to wait till Motorola makes it a reality as they claim so.
One more thing we need to watch is whether the users will be really interested in such kind of a device from Motorola when they are producing really revolutionary devices such as DROID and DROID2.
