LG Unveils Optimus 2X With Dual Core Processor
With the escalating demand for Android-based smartphones, the Android devices are becoming better and better each day. Nearly every month cell phone makers are introducing novel features to the smartphones.
Now LG has stunned Android consumers with LG Optimus 2X, the world’s first smartphone with dual core processor.
In a press release, CEO and President of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company, Dr. Jong-seok Park said, “Dual-core technology is the next leap forward in mobile technology so this is no small achievement to be the first to offer a smartphone utilizing this technology.”
The Tegra 2 processor will support faster speed, enhanced web browsing and superior multitasking with hardly any screen lag. The processor will operate at a clock speed of 1GHz. Compared to single core processors running on similar speed, a dual core processor will offer better and faster audio and video performance. It will offer instant touch response. In addition, the dual core processor will consume lesser energy than the single core processors.
LG Optimus 2X is a testimony of the high-end smartphones that will adorn LG’s product portfolio in 2011. Along with the dual core processor, LG has included several unique features in this stylish smartphone.
It features a 4-inch WVGA touch sensitive display. It supports 1080p high-definition video playback. With the help of High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) mirroring, HD videos captured with LG Optimus 2X’s camcorder could be viewed on larger external displays. The upcoming LG Android phone could be connected to any DLNA compatible devices without the aid of wires.
To enhance the performance of the high-end smartphone, LG has incorporated a gyro sensor in the device. An 8-megapixel camera is present on the back of the device. The 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera could be used for video conferencing.
LG Optimus 2X will currently run on the Android 2.2 or Froyo operating system. However, LG promises to upgrade the device to Android 2.3 or Android Gingerbread some time next year. Along with 8GB onboard storage space, Optimus 2X will support up to 32GB of external memory expansion with microSD memory card. The smartphone will be powered by a 1500mAh battery.
LG Optimus 2X will be available in Korea from January 2011. LG will also launch this smartphone in other Asian countries and Europe.
