LG Optimus Hub Mobile Phone Review

LG has announced that it will soon be rolling out the successor to LG Optimus One. Named as LG Optimus Hub, this phone earlier came into limelight with another name – LG Univa E510. LG Optimus Hub is an out-and-out Android-based GSM mobile phone supporting 3G.

The phone will support 850MHz and 1900MHz bands and so will be fully compatible with carriers such as AT&T, Rogers, Telus and Bell. If so, the carriers might decide to roll the phone with different names. As LG Optimus Hub has recently received the FCC approvals, it seems we don’t have to wait too long to see this successor to Optimus One in hands.

Design

The LG Optimus Hub flaunts a stylish look. Dimensionally it is 113.4×60.8×11.9mm and weighs 123g. The 3.5-inch TFT display boasts of Gorilla Glass that sports 256K colors and 320x480p resolution. The Gorilla Glass displayfeatures an accelerometer sensor that auto-rotates the UI and proximity sensor that turns off the display automatically. Besides, Optimus v2.0 user interface enables the user to operate the display features easily.Hardware – It is based on Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread operating system. The phone runs on ARM v6 processor with a clock speed of 800MHz and the graphics is handled by Adreno 200. The phone also boasts of Qualcomm MSM7227T chipset.

Multimedia

LG Optimus Hub supports a number of media file formatssuch as DivX, MP4, Xvid, WMV, H.264, H.263, MP3, WAV, eAAC+ and WMA. The phone sports FM Radio and 3.5mm audio jack that promises of optimum sound quality.

Camera

LG Optimus Hub sports a standard 5MP camera that not only captures stunning still images but also records VGA videos at 24 frames per second. This is quite an upgrade over the 18fps rate of Optimus One. The camera has a number of features attached such as Auto Focus, Geo-tagging, Face Detection, Smile Detection, Beauty Shot, and so on that enable the users to capture the right moment without a miss. However, an LED Flash would have been a welcome change.

Connectivity

LG Optimus Hub supports a number of connectivity features such as GPRS, 3G, EDGE along with Bluetooth 3.0 and WiFi. It also has a microUSB 2.0 port to easily share and receive data.

Social Networking

LG Optimus Hub is conscious about the need of the present generation to stay connected. For this matter, the phone has integrated many apps such as Google Search, Gmail, GTalk, YouTube, MySpace, Twitter, and of course Facebook. Users will be able to send and receive e-mails, IM, MMS and threaded text messages. The phone will have a good number of games as well as mp3 ringtones embedded into it.

Memory

LG Optimus Hub sports 150MB internal memory along with 512MB RAM. Users have the freedom to expand the internal memory up to 32GB – thanks to the microSD card slot in the phone. The phone is packaged with a 2GB card.

Battery

The phone is powered by Lithium-Ion 1500 mAH battery. Being a standard battery, the LG Optimus Hub should offer decent talk time and standby time. But that will be revealed only after the official release of the phone.

Price and Availability

LG Optimus Hub is expected to hit the shelves in October. LG has not yet revealed any price information about the phone until recently.
