Inspiron Duo Convertible Tablet Dated, Detailed, and Priced
The wait will soon be over for the much-hyped Dell Inspiron Duo since Engadget is said to have found some details on its price and launch date before others.
Engadget states that Inspiron Duo will now feature dual-core Atom N550 processor and the Broadcom Crystal HD.
The latest decoder chip accelerates playback of Flash video and HD videos. Besides, this convertible tablet will also house in 250GB HDD and 2GB RAM that make it equal to a standard notebook.
Dell Inspiron Duo features a 10.1-inch capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. Although, a 10.1-inch screen generally sports 1024 x 600 pixels resolution, in case of Inspiron Duo, sporting a resolution of screens equal to and larger than 11.6 inches is quite unique. However, such high DPI may too cause people to have eyesight problem; so, they will have to enlarge the font size to view the text comfortably.
Built on Windows 7 (Home Premium), Dell Inspiron Duo has a Stage UI on tablet mode. The finger-friendly Stage UI is highly based on the software available in the smaller Dell Streak. Besides, the Stage UI allows easy access for many applications including videos, pictures and music.
Dell Inspiron Duo also features an eBook reader that will cater to the needs of the growing e-book reading population. However, there is no specific details as to how web surfing is done on Dell Inspiron Duo.
Other than that, Dell Inspiron Duo also provides its users with touch & type facility. The flip-style Inspiron Duo switches over to type from touch in seconds.
It is estimated that Inspiron Duo will be priced at $549. Dell Inspiron Duo will be on sale with an offer for the users to choose an optional (larger) hard drive and a speaker dock. In the latter case, the price will go up to $649.
Well, convertible tablets have never been cheap and the Inspiron Duo, with some unique features such as higher resolution and exceptional UI, deserves to be priced higher. Dell Inspiron Duo is slated to hit the market by December, more specifically in the first week of this month. So, be ready to get the Inspiron Duo with more features.
