HTC Unveils Froyo Powered HTC Gratia

Taiwan based HTC is noted for its stunning Android based smartphones. HTC Gratia is another android device from the Taiwanese smartphone maker. Gratia is touted to be the European version of HTC Aria, which is currently available in the AT&T retail stores.

However, HTC Gratia contains additional features that are missing in its American cousin. Gratia will run on the Froyo or Android 2.2 operating system and will offer extra RAM.

According to Florian Seiche, President of HTC Europe, Middle East and Africa, “HTC Gratia offers something completely different. Its compact size, beautiful design and power with Android 2.2, combined with its personalized experience through HTC Sense in uniquely compelling.”

The HTC device sports a slim and elegant form, 4.09 inches long, 2.27 inches wide and 0.46 inches thin and weighs around four ounces. The Android device features a medium resolution (320 x 480 pixels) 3.2 inches display. Ambient light sensor, proximity sensor, digital compass and G-sensor have been integrated in the Android device to enhance the touch features of the phone.

The optical trackball supports onscreen navigation. The popular HTC Sense user interface has been incorporated in Gratia. The functions of the mid range Android device will be powered by a 600 MHz processor. HTC Gratia supports 512 MB ROM and 384 MB RAM.

A 5-megapixel camera with auto focus and video recorder has been integrated in the android phone handset. However, digital flash is missing from smartphone camera. HTC Gratia supports stereo Bluetooth 2.1 and 3.2mm stereo headset jack, which will enable users to connect the smartphone to wireless and wired headsets.

This HTC Android phone could be used for wireless web surfing in Wi-Fi zones. HTC Gratia offers external memory expansion. The Friend Stream application, pre-installed in the HTC smartphone, will organize updates from popular social networking sites such as Twitter, Facebook and Flickr in a single window.

HTC Gratia will run on the quad band GSM, GRPS and EDGE networks. The 3G enabled phone will support smooth web browsing. It will offer A-GPS, MP3 player, FM radio, seven hours of talk time and 15 days of stand-by time.

Gratia will be available in Europe in green and white shades in November.
