HTC Jetstream vs Apple iPad 2
Apple iPad2 is one of the most popular tablets in the cellular enabled tablet market. HTC Jetstream is the first tablet that has a 4G LTE connectivity. Though it is little expensive than Apple iPad2 but it is giving tough competition to the iPad. Here we compare the features of HTC Jetstream with Apple iPad 2.
Comparison Between HTC Jetstream & Apple iPad 2
Design
There is not much variation in the designs of both the tablets. The tablets have a solid aluminum casing which radiates quality. There is not much difference in the dimensions of both the tablets but iPad looks more impressive with a razor thin structure. It is also very light in weight. HTC Jetstream is on the heavier side.
Apple iPad 2 has a display of 9.7 inches. It has a high resolution with a pixel count of 1024×768. Jetstream features a LCD display of 10.1 inches with a resolution of 1280×768. The iPad2 displays more natural colors than the JetStream. You can see a yellow tinge in the display of JetStream from various angles. The display of iPad 2 functions fairly well in bright sunlight.

The volume rocker and power button of JetStream are very touch sensitive whereas the physical buttons of iPad2 need to be pressed with force.
There is a camera at the front of both the tablets which facilitates video chat. The iPad2 has a VGA camera of 0.3 MP whereas JetStream features 1.3 MP camera.
There are data and charging ports in both the tablets. But you need to buy adapters to access HDMI-out functionality in both the tablets.
JetStream takes an edge over iPad2 in terms of camera. JetStream features 8MP camera with auto-focus and a dual-LED flash whereas the iPad2 has a 1MP camera. A stereo output is provided in both the speakers of JetStream while iPad2 has only one speaker.
The iPad2 has microSIM card whereas JetStream uses a regular one.
Interface & Functionality
JetStream is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor of 1.5GHz with a RAM of 1GB. The iPad2 comes with a RAM of 512MB and Apple A5 processor of 1GHz. The iPad2 gives a smooth performance than the JetStream.
Jetstream offers various transition effects, useful widgets and 3D visuals. JetStream gives more variety and quality in its apps than iPad2. The calendar app in JetStream gives a display of two months as compared to one month in the iPad2. Clock app in JetStream gives options of alarms, temperature, weather information, world clocks etc. These options are not provided by iPad2.
The keyboard layouts are pretty impressive for both the tablets. These keyboards respond quickly on touch.
Email experience is same on these tablets. There is not much difference.
Internet & Connectivity
The tablets use Wi-Fi and give an excellent web-browsing experience. The iPad2 is more responsive with perfect navigations control. JetStream is little difficult to handle in pinch zooming and kinetic scrolling. But JetStream has an advantage. It supports Flash.
JetStream has incorporated the 4G technology while the iPad2 works on the 3G speed.The connectivity options in both the tablets are the same. These include 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a GPS.
Camera & Multimedia
The camera of JetStream is more powerful than that of the iPad2. Jetstream captures the actual colors in their most natural form along with the sharp details. The LED flash lightens up the photo and creates a perfect visual. The iPad2 is not good at capturing images. The images are taken with no attention to details and with a muddy appearance.
Similarly, the video quality is better in JetStream. It captures a video of 1080p while iPad2 captures a 720p video. The visuals taken by JetStream are more eye-appealing. It can capture 30 frames in a second.
The music players of both the tablets are average. The audio quality of the speakers of the tablets is the same. HDMI-out ports are not available in the tablets so you have to buy an adapter.
JetStream has an internal memory of 32GB. There is no memory expansion option in iPad2 but you can buy it in 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB selections.
Software
JetStream is equipped with many useful apps . There is an app Polaris Office that quickly creates and edits the files in Microsoft Office. HTC Watch is especially designed for movie buffs that gives a wide range of videos which can be rented or purchased. You can turn the JetStream to a notepad by using the Scribe Technology of HTC. JetStream provides an impressive series of apps as compared to iPad2.
JetStream runs Android and integrates very well with YouTube and Google Maps. The iPad2 also has its own apps but these cannot compete with JetStream.
For iPad2, you can get the apps from the Android market and App store.
Performance
Both the tablets use Wi-Fi connectivity and give the same battery life. The battery survives for two days with a one-time charge even if you watch YouTube videos, surf the web and send emails. These tablets give enough playing time.
Price
HTC JetStream is available at Rs 36000 whereas the cost of Apple iPad2 starts from Rs 22500.
Sum Up
HTC JetStream is popular because of its 4G LTE network. It is excellent in taking photos and incorporates Scribe Technology. The iPad2 is a decent choice in case you are want to go for a 3G network.
