TouchPad is the first version of Tablet by HP in which it will use Wi-Fi technology for connecting with Internet via wireless hotspots. According to Hp, in future they will AT&T wireless network for the connectivity options.
During the past few months, the demand of traditional PCs slacks off due to the tablet devices as consumers prefer small touchscreen devices. Till now Apple’s iPad is is dominating the tablet market, but after taking a closer look at HP’s Touchpad, we can say that you have to hanker no more for getting a credible alternative to it. In the tablet throne, HP’s Touchpad is a new contender which is promising for various advantages over iPad. It has dual core processor, intuitive handling of media along with Adobe Flash Playback.
In its first Impression, device gives positive impact. Though it doesn’t have snazzy aluminum backside and outer bezel like the iPad, but it is definitely worth looking as there are many outstanding designer feature has been provided to the device. On the chubby edges of the device, there are volume buttons with stereo speakers , micro USB port and 1.3 MP webcam.
Decently Designed Body:
HP’s touchpad is almost similar to the iPad in most of the cases, yet it has cleverly maintained a difference in the design with slight changes. However, in weight HP Touchpad is slightly heavier than iPad pointing at 770 g while iPad weighs only 680g. The display screen of Touchpad consists of 9.7 inch capacitive touchscreen and 1024 x 768 pixel resolution. There is a home button on the lower side of the tablet for quick access.
The screen quality of TouchPad is awesome as it is very bright and provides the angle for wider range so that you don’t get the distorted images even if you are viewing from obtuse angle. It doesn’t require to sit at the center from screen to get a clear cut image if you are watching with other person or lying in sofa or bed. Stiff Gorilla Glass has been used in the HP’s touchscreen that prevents the screen from scratches or drops.
Smooth Operator:
HP TouchPad is using a Linux based OS known as webOS that provides better graphical user interface. You can launch all the applications just by tapping the graphical icons as you do it on other devices. By tapping the home button at the bezel side, you will get all the active apps on your display screen as activity cards. While swiping through horizontal cycles in between the tapping and cards the application is then restored to the full screen mode.
However, once you get habitual to this practice then it will be no more a nasty task for you to handle the device. The web browser of HP TouchPad is more intuitive then other browsers among the same range of devices. It is supported with stretching, customary pinching, swiping gestures, Flash and HTML, etc. Thus you will be able to view the interweb contents as per your taste.
Denied Applications:
In the Apps segment, it is really disappointing that it is available with only 8000 apps in its store. It is pathetic as there are more than 1,20,000 apps in the Android devices while in Apple’s app store it is more than 300,000. and the number is keep growing with the time. With fabulous performance and sound CPU, HP should take some steps ahead in the apps market as it is also one of the important factors in the selling of tech devices.
The device is highly responsive which is using dual core Qualcomm with excellent graphic processing unit. On this device you can enjoy quick switching between apps and scrolling of documents. This device will be capable of running 3D games as well. However, it doesn’t have any pre loaded full game but you can get them from its app store.
The Entertainer:
The audio and video playback seems very impressive and it is capable of playing videos in all the formats, so you don’t need to be worried about transcoding the files in other formats. It is also loaded with HP Movie Store that will let you purchase your favorite TV shows and movies.
And how can we forget the music playback system. This device consists of Dre Headphone audio system that improvises the audio quality by ripping the music files at low bit rate.
The connectivity of ToucPad is also very flattering as its micro USB port is featuring various accessories, among which one will allow you to connect your tablet with the TV. It is also featuring Bluetooth and Wi-Fi services.
You can connect your tablet with the cellphone and start receiving texts, video and voice calls. Using the Bluetooth service you can make use of touch and share feature of HP that allows you to pass web pages and data on your cell phones when bring into closer proximity. May be in coming days this feature will also allow you to share you movies, music and photos.
