Push Gmail is a feature that has been demanded by millions of iPhone users over the past years. Although a number of third-party solutions came forward to fill the void created by the absence of Push Gmail on iPhone such as: GPush application, but it was not available to the users of iPhone and did not come for free.

But now Push Gmail will be officially available to the iPhone users. Google has decided upon offering Push Gmail to even the less tech-savvy users by making it easily activated in a few steps. The official Gmail blog has published a guide for the users for activating Push Gmail on their iPhones. So, here it is.

Firstly, the users should know that the Push Gmail can be set up either by themselves or by taking the help of Calendar applications or Contacts application.

The Push Gmail, as informed by Google, will be available to those iPhone or iPod touch units that run the latest versions of operating system i.e., OS 3.0 or higher. Hence, if the operating system of your iPhone does not meet the said requirements then do upgrade it to 3.0 or more before you activate Push Gmail.

However, the process of upgrading the operating system is not being discussed here as most of the users likely get the operating system upgraded to 3.0 to avail its wonderful features.

The very first step is that you have to visit m.google.com/sync from your PC. Here you will be prompted to choose your iPhone. After selecting the iPhone, you will reach the second page with detailed procedure thereafter. You will have to set up your Gmail account by going to Settings so that it enables push-in functionality. The entire procedure does not take more than a few minutes.

The Push Gmail can be activated on BlackBerry, Windows mobile and Nokia S60. The procedure of activating is quite similar in each case but the software used varies from case to case.

Another thing to note here is that the Push Gmail functionality consumes more battery. So, if you don’t need to check your mails every now and then, do not activate Push Gmail on your iPhones.
