Google Introduces Search Application for Windows Phone 7
We all knew that Google’s much touted Windows Phone 7 uses Bing as its default search engine. But that has now become history!! Microsoft Corp is now giving its users another choice to conduct search.
The company has introduced its own mobile applications for Windows Phone 7 in the market. This seems quite fair since Bing application is also available on other phones. The timing for the tactic couldn’t be better, as the Windows Phone 7 has just been launched in the U.S. market.
The application has many features and is at par with other search application in the market currently. It integrates functions like auto-complete, search history, and even location search capabilities. It also incorporates the auto suggest feature. It allows multiple searches on the web for text, images, news and other local traits.
Thus, suggestion will appear automatically as you type, you can search into the history for a query you have already submitted. In addition, the results are displayed in accordance with your current location. These are all standard features provided by Google. Many of these features might help speed up your search also. Only the voice search function is missing.
However, the search engine built into the phone is Bing. While, Google’s search engine isn’t integrated as suitably into the phone’s software. The launch is much debated, as it is believed that people generally tend to use the default search engine built into the phone. Then, they tend to continue using the features that they have been using for a considerable period of time. Moreover, Bing also slots in the voice search feature which is missing from Googles search application.
Thus, this launch might not be ideal for Google search engine on Windows Phone 7. Also, Google has been giving importance to its voice recognition feature. Therefore, it is quite a contrary that it is missing from this search application in Windows Phone 7.
Google has announced the launch of this new search application on its official mobile blog. The device is available in the market in all languages. You need not fret if you already has a Windows 7 Phone. You can still download this new search application on your phone for free! Just search for ‘Google Search’ and download the application.
