Features The iPad Lacks For Business
As soon as Apple iPad–the Wi-Fi version is launched i was more than excited to get one for me. The feedbacks were so encouraging that it seems to revolutionize the business computing. The devise is an uncut technology with several never seen before features with greater usability for the user. Despite the fact that the smart phone is quite distinct with its own merits, with high speed processors, multi touch screen, vast library etc., people do compare it with e-reader or tablet PCs with upgraded window 7 or all. I too feel that this phone has carve out a niche for itself but it could have been much better if Apple would have focused on
1) Expendable Memory: The device comes with three standard memory options of
i) 16 GB
ii) 32 GB and
iii) 64 GB
And that is where its usage as a business tool got limited. Now a day’s all smart phones come with the option of having expendable memory. The memory can be expanded by means of separate SD card. The limitation is something which Apple need to address may be in next version of its iPhones.
2) Video Camera: The Potential use of iPhone for video conferencing is something which was highly expected from this hyped smart phone. But alas the absence of this has confines the usability which it could have delivered for the business activities.
3) USB Port: The absence of this most common feature of notebooks took away the flexibility feature it could have provided to its users. This limits the functionality of this phone to great extent.
4) Multitasking: The feature is yet to be upgraded in the current Operating System. iPhones ability to show the multiple windows is more of a software feature need to be uploaded with the Operating System, but at the moment this is missing for the larger part of it
5) Alternate Browser: This smart phone just support Apple’s own browser Safari, which limits the usability as the browser is not that user friendly and neither is so popular in business class. The Browser is off course not the first or the second choice of any customer
Thus, in simple words iPad is primarily a consumer gadget with lots of features but it could have provided vied ranges of functionality to businesses if these limitation are taken care off.
May be in iPad 2.0.version
