Dell Thunder Spotted Again, Prototype Runs Android 2.1
After Aero and Streak, Dell could not have possibly waited too long for the release of an all-new device. The Dell Thunder has already been in news sometime back in the month of April, but it seems there is still a lot left to know about it, hence, the device is again in the spotlight, and now it has some interesting info for the mobile buffs.
The Dell document reveals that the device will be made available during Q4 2010 and an LTE version of it is also in the pipeline.
The leaked pictures of the Thunder show that it has an OLED capacitive display, which is measured just 4.1inches and has full touchscreen functionalities. Besides, the display also offers a resolution of 800 x 400 pixels, with this glaring feat, the device is put somewhere in between the Streak and the Aero.
Besides, its 8-mp camera is the talk of the town. The camera, sometimes referred to as the ‘monster’ camera, comes with LED flash, and is capable of recording videos at 720p. The Thunder prototype runs on vanilla Android 2.1 OS. So, we can anticipate a switch over to Android 2.2, based upon the decision of Dell. In case, the device features Android 2.1 at the time of the launch, there will be scope that it can be upgraded to Android 2.2 later.
Although the rumors say that the Dell Thunder will sport the custom UI, proprietary to Dell, nothing can be surely said about this at this moment. If this happens to be true, the UI will feature over the Android platform.
Also, Dell Thunder will accommodate a Skin Disabling option for the users who want to keep clean their devices based on Android.
The Dell Thunder will derive power from the 1400mAh Lithium ion battery, but no info about its battery life has been leaked as such.
The device will be supported by the waves of AT&T. But no details about its price have been released up till now. It can be expected that Thunder costs more than Dell Aero and lesser than Dell Streak. For now, we can just wait for Q4 when the device will officially be released.
