Dell Streak Amalgamates With Logitech diNovo Mini Keyboard
It was sometime back that Dell Streak was in news. The same smartphone has made it to the headlines once again owing to its update with diNovo Mini, a keyboard by Logitech.
This amalgamation has been named as Streak Smart and has found out many innovative ways in which texts can be typed out.
The diNovo was originally designed for the HTPC/media center. Later, it was discovered that diNovo can also function well with Dell Streak. So, here it comes! Plus, the support for Bluetooth keypads in Dell Streak & the availability of Bluetooth 2.0 in diNovo forms an interesting combination. On pairing Dell Streak & diNovo, there wasn’t any complaint regarding the functioning of keyboard and touchpad keys such as volume controls.
The light sensor in the keypad keeps the backlighting in control via automatic commands, while the ClickPad chooses the light according to the modes. Whereas for Media Remote it is Green light, for Cursor mode it is Orange light. diNovo gets the power from 930mAh battery that is rechargeable. The Menu of Dell Streak holds the keyboard shortcuts, which get automatically displayed.
However, the keypad isn’t as good as a Bluetooth one since text input is slow in the case of Dell Streak keypad. Nonetheless, it is claimed that it saves screen space unlike in case of soft keypad. When you press the touchpad’s centre for long, it becomes easy to get to the context menus by means of links.
At the same time, some drawbacks of this alliance between Dell Streak and diNovo have sprung up as well. According to some, the keypad’s base is too light and does not support Dell Streak properly. Owing to this, Streak topples backwards every now and then. Some users complain about the cover of the keyboard.
According to them, the cover isn’t ample to encase the phone as well. At times, it so happens that the handset slips down when the user is typing by his thumbs. Moreover, carrying them separately is another headache that users have faced so far.
On being hooked up, volume controls in fully unparallel manner. So, pressing the button of ‘Volume Down’ will boost the volume and to reduce it, you’ll have to press the ‘Volume Up’ button. In Cursor Mode, ClickPad shows inconsistent performance.
So, despite of knowing all its pros and cons, if you still want to go for this combo, then you will have to pay $149.99.
