Comparison Between The Best Nikon Digital Cameras

With so many new products introduced by various developers in the market, choosing the right product becomes little difficult. Here we compare three digital cameras of Nikon: Nikon Coolpix S8200, Nikon Coolpix S4150 and Nikon Coolpix S6200.

Design and Specifications

Nikon Coolpix S8200

With a 14x zoom, it has a 16.1MP sensor. The 2x digital zoom makes it more efficient by providing a maximum zoom up to 700mm. It weighs 213g and is not a small compact camera. So it won’t fit well in your pocket. S8200 is quite powerful and can be a replacement for dSLR.

You need atleast 500mm of distance to focus. But if you switch over to macro, you can capture objects from a distance of 10mm. The depth of the field keeps the object in focus.The camera separates the object from its background giving a very clear view.

You can capture 180 or 360 degree frames from the panorama scene mode. The SD card slot and battery cover are located away from mount point. The movie-record, playback and power buttons are located at the top with a heavy-duty mode dial. The scroll wheel on its rear helps you to move the menus up & down.

With 16 scene modes, the camera comprises of six effects for tweaking such as sepia, soft, high and low key colors.

Nikon Coolpix S4150

With a metal case and rounded corners, S4150 is a small camera and fits in very well in your pocket. It has a screen of 3inch and 14MP sensor. Accompanied with a 5x optical zoom and 4x digital zoom, it offers an excellent resolution with a pixel count of 1280×720. S4150 gives a wide angle when it is zoomed out with a short telephoto. Because of this, less light is consumed when you zoom in.


The buttons function pretty well and few of these are shifted to its touchscreen. These can be controlled very easily on the interface. You can use the stylus to manage the icons too. You need to turn off features like detecting blink on stills and reducing wind noise on movies before capturing a shot.

It provides an internal memory of 20MB and writes the file to SDHC, SDXC or SD. The camera comprises of many advanced features such as face detection. You can either choose the smart portrait or auto mode.

Nikon Coolpix S6200

With 10x optical zoom, S6200 is a 16MP camera. Its zoom range covers a wide angle of 25mm. These features are equipped in a very small size which makes it very easy and handy to carry.

The size of the controls and buttons has been coordinated with the lens barrel and body color. It has a very elegant and refined design.

Video

Nikon Coolpix S8200

S8200 captures a video of 30p with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. The video quality is not very impressive. S8200 uses autofocus and has an impressive response time.

The wind noise in the video is noticeable and there is no option to reduce this noise. It captures bright and vivid colors and its auto-exposure feature maintains the lighting balance.

Nikon Coolpix S4150

With a high resolution of 1280×720, it gives a good quality video. Zooming and panning are very smooth. You have the option to use single focus or continuous auto-focus.

If you use the single focus, it will reduce the mechanical noise from the soundtrack.

Nikon Coolpix S6200

S6200 captures a video of 720p. The image quality is excellent and it captures accurate colors. The noise caused by the internal functioning of the camera is a put-off. The autofocus is little difficult to operate.

Shooting Results

Nikon Coolpix S8200

The photo results are excellent. The details are very clean and fine. S8200 maintains a balance with the tricky frames. It captures the actual colors and tones. This camera takes few seconds to adjust to the exposure and focus.

Nikon Coolpix S4150

S4150 includes some noise in the images it captures. The sensitivity has to be increased to capture images even in dark light. This camera performs fairly well in the studio. The photo results are sharp and clean.

Nikon Coolpix S6200

The camera gives impressive photo results. The images are well-balanced and it covers the actual colors with fine details. The depth of the field focuses on the subject and separates it from the background.

Price

The price of Nikon Coolpix S8200 is Rs 20000 while Nikon Coolpix S4150 is available at Rs 11200 Nikon Coolpix S6200 is available at Rs 15,000.
