By on October 14, 2010

Samsung Focus is touted to be one of the most impressive yet simple Windows Phones. Powered by the latest operating system of Microsoft, this Samsung smartphone is touted to be one of the slimmest and brightest phones in the world.

The 4 inches Super AMOLED display of the touchscreen device closely resembles the bright display of Samsung Omnia 7. The absence of a hardware keyboard enhances the importance of the virtual keyboard of the device.

The built-in accelerometer will enable users to switch the view of the touch keyboard between landscape and portrait modes. The Samsung smartphone, which is expected to hit the AT&T stores on 8th November, will run on the robust Windows Phone 7 operating system.

The high-end functionalities of the Windows smartphone will be supported by the 1-gigahertz Qualcomm processor. Samsung Focus is touted to be one of the few Windows-based smartphones to support up to 40GB of memory expansion. Along with the 8GB built-in storage space of the device, Samsung Focus even supports external memory expansion, up to 32GB.

The thin and lightweight device boasts a body 123mm long, 65mm wide and barely 10mm thick. It weighs 115 grams. The built-in 5-megapixel camera of Samsung Focus is equipped with auto focus, LED flash and video recorder.

Five AT&T applications are preloaded in the Samsung Focus handset. If you dislike the AT&T programs, you can remove them from the home screen of the Windows Phone.

The preloaded U-Verse Mobile is one of the latest AT&T applications preloaded in the device. By paying a monthly fee, popular television shows could be downloaded on the Samsung Focus handset. U-Verse is expected to be an affordable AT&T service that allows AT&T subscribers to access TV shows without AT&T cable TV service. Samsung Focus also supports Zune and Xbox Live. The Windows Marketplace for Mobile could be accessed with the Windows Phone 7 device for downloading games and apps.

Features that are usually present on smartphones such as Wi-Fi, 3G connectivity, stereo Bluetooth, 3.5mm audio jack, microUSB port and GPS with A-GPS support are present in the device. The battery of the smartphone supports up to 6.5 hours of talk time and 13 days of standby time.

Samsung Focus will carry a $199.99 price tag along with a two-year AT&T service contract.
