I have been looking forward to the ULxxVT series from Asus since they were first launched a couple of weeks ago. Earlier I had UL80VT back in October last year when it was released.

But ULxxVT is far better than UL80VT and it has exceeded my expectations. Despite having a smaller frame the build quality of UL30VT is better. Apart from the small right shift key, everything is well spaced out, even the keyboard is okay. But there is one thing which could annoy some people which is that it’s very noisy when you type. The contrast of the screen is far better than the larger model and the touch pad loaded with functions make it a joy to use.

With a 10 hours battery life it looks like a bit short for us but still it has 63whr, 4400 mah 8 cell battery which is enough to get 7 hours plus of wifi web surfing . With 3.92 lds it is one of the lightest laptop around. Although I wouldn’t have minded a larger 84whr battery, I think taking its light weight into consideration that shouldn’t be much of an issue for me. With a touchpad that is not as hard as on the UL80VT pressing a button is easy especially for those who don’t like just tapping.

Overall, I think UL30VT is a product which deserves all the accolades and applauses, as the concept of creating an over clocked low voltage system is a brilliant idea, which it has executed perfectly. The price tag of $799 I think is perfectly justified; I even think that we are getting more than what we could have got only with a $100-$150 expensive model.

You can compare its performance to a regular full voltage core 2 duo with a better battery life. Its always better to have a longer battery life and I agree that it could have a better battery life but given the fact that I would have to shell out % 100 more I don’t thing that proposition I would have recommended.

Overall speaking its an amazing product with a lot of advantages over its rivals as well as its earlier bigger version of UL80VT.
