The recent show at Computex witnessed quite a good number of devices from ASUS. To be precise, their two brand new notebooks – Eee PC 1016p and Eee PC 1018pg -- stole the show with their magnificent look and advanced specifications.
The best thing about the Eee PC 1016p and 1018pg is that it is powered by the new Intel DDR3 Atom processor and DDR3 memory.
The Eee PC 1016p had been announced some time back in March. It comes with a 10.1-inch display with display resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels.
It supports HDD up to 250GB apart from the 1GB DDR3 memory.
The Eee PC 1016p is definitely going to make a historical mark as it sports a DDR3 RAM supporting Atom processor.
The processor is Atom N455 or Atom N475. Besides this unique feature, it also supports a number of other features that would wow the users.
With a brushed metal appearance, the Eee PC 1016p sports an island-styled keyboard and a textured trackpad. A non-delineated mouse button is placed below the trackpad. It brags of a webcam also that comes with an On/Off switch, a unique feature indeed. Besides, the left side of the Eee PC 1016p includes a VGA output and USB vents and ports.
The right side of the PC has an SD card reader, headphone and microphone jacks, adaptor port and a LAN out. The Eee PC 1016p supports a battery life of 13 hours that doesn’t match the unbulky nature of the PC.
Keeping almost all the features same as that of Eee PC 1016p, the Eee PC 1018pg shows difference in having a 3G option. The “g” in the name stands for that. Also, the deck and the touchpad have a brushed metal look. The Eee PC 1018pg also resembles the iMac to an extent, as it has a similar palm-rest area with white keys in island style.
The right and the left side of the Eee PC 1018pg as well as its bezel is plastic. Although the exterior is made of white plastic, the looks are great. Also, one point in which the two models differ is that Eee PC 1018pg has two USB2.0 ports on the right side also. The other specs stay unaltered. No details about the price and availability are known yet.
