Acer has announced the new G5 series of multimedia and gaming monitors, which add to the already expansive line-up of Acer’s dedicated displays. These latest monitors will be available in the range of 19 inches to 24 inches.

This new G-series of monitors has been especially designed for the home users who want style at an affordable price tag.

The G5 line is known mainly for its looks. It provides a very impressive visual expression by using design based on hard-edges and sharply-cut surfaces. The monitor stand itself is X-shaped, which, besides providing tilt adjustment, also accounts for its good looks.

The G5 line of monitors comes in the great looking Piano Black finish which sadly also is responsible for being a fingerprint magnet. These monitors will support resolutions nearly 1920 x 1080 p (full HD). The 24inch model has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, while the 22-inch and 23-inch models have resolution of 1600 x 900 pixels. Besides, the tiniest model with 20-inches has a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels.

Acer has managed to proffer a contrast ratio of 80,000:1, which is very good for watching movies, playing games and for working with multimedia. This contrast ratio is achievable thanks to the use of Acer’s Adaptive Contrast management which dynamically adjusts the basic contrast ratio so that a sharper image can be displayed. All the models brag of a low response time i.e. 5-ms, while the response time for the G245H model is 2-ms.

The VGA and DVI standard that is common to almost all monitors in the market is built-in here on all models, whereas the HDMI 1.3 makes its look only on just a few selected G5 series models.

Keeping in view with the DRM-embedded media playback issues, Acer has incorporated HDCP making it possible to playback most of the DRM protected media files. The Acer G5 series of monitors are being made available in Europe as of now.

The G195HQ model is priced at €119, the G205H model costs €139, the G225HQ model can be bought at €169, the G235H model at €199 and the G245H model is available at a price of just €219.
